#Fireworks4Peace
On the historic date of May 8th – the end of World War II in Europe – the artistic action #fireworks4peace sent a worldwide sign to stand up for peace, freedom, and human dignity.
Together, fireworks artists lit up the night sky all over the world to express solidarity with Ukraine and people in all conflict areas. Across national borders, #fireworks4peace made this solidarity directly visible and tangible for citizens in the community and calls for donations to UNICEF for children affected by war.
The artistic action ranged from Australia and Japan across Europe to South and North America and shows the cohesion of the democratic community of values.
The #fireworks4peace campaign is a worldwide symbol of peace. Beyond the symbolic effect, we want to contribute to alleviating the acute suffering caused by crises and wars. #fireworks4peace is therefore calling for donations to the global children’s charity UNICEF.

FAQ
Why Fireworks4Peace?
We all are dismayed by Putin’s war against Ukraine. As fireworks artists, we want to make our solidarity with Ukraine visible and send a sign of solidarity to all viewers. Together, the participating artists call for donations to UNICEF.
How can I donate?
With the art contributions, the artists of the global fireworks community call for donations for children affected by war in Ukraine and worldwide. We ask for direct donations to the nationally and religiously independent organization UNICEF. However, everyone can freely choose the destination of the donation!
How can I further support this project?
Let’s spread this sign of peace together. Post your pictures, videos, and comments about the fireworks with the hashtag #fireworks4peace on the social networks Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Which of the fireworks are public?
All public fireworks are marked “public”. You can visit these fireworks freely. Of course, observe the Corona regulations that apply in the respective countries.
Fireworks NOT marked as “public” are not open to the public. Most of these fireworks that are not publicly accessible are from amateur fireworkers who unfortunately do not have the opportunity to make their artwork publicly accessible. #fireworks4peace has developed into a worldwide action in a very short time. Unfortunately, it was therefore no longer possible for some firework artists to get a permit for public fireworks due to registration deadlines. We are therefore looking forward to seeing all of these contributions on social media!
Can I see how much money was raised through the actions?
No, we decided to not have a separate donation account. But we trust in the willingness of the viewers to donate. What counts is that the donations reach the people affected.
Why May 8th?
May 8th is the day of the liberation of Europe from the fascist National Socialism of the Nazi regime. This day symbolizes the victory of the free world over the tyranny of the dictatorship and the end of the bloody wars of aggression by Nazi Germany. May 8 stands for people’s striving for freedom, humanity and peace.
How did this action come about?
The artistic action #fireworks4peace was started in April 2022 by fireworks artists in Germany. The art project quickly found support around the world. With the participation of artists from 15 countries, #fireworks4peace has grown into a global artistic action.
Who bears the costs of #fireworks4peace?
The participating artists and companies bear the costs for the fireworks themselves. Most of the organizational work is done on a voluntary basis. In terms of communication and coordination, the action is also supported by fireworks associations from Japan, the USA, Portugal, and Germany. We would like to take this opportunity to expressly thank all supporters, without whom this action would never have been possible.
The #fireworks4peace campaign is a worldwide symbol of peace. Beyond the symbolic effect, we want to contribute to alleviating the acute suffering caused by crises and wars. #fireworks4peace is therefore calling for donations to the global children’s charity UNICEF.
